Death Investigations
3 Credit Graduate Course
This course will introduce students to identify, delineate, and assemble a set of investigative tasks that should and could be performed at every death scene. In this course, topics will focus on death scene investigation, particularly on natural deaths, accidental deaths, suicidal deaths, homicidal deaths and the medicolegal investigation of these different manners of deaths. Death investigations in special cases such as infant deaths, sexual activities resulting in death, multiple victims’ deaths will be included in the topics. Students will also gain knowledge of the different causes of death, different mechanisms of death. Death scene management will be introduced throughout the course. Students will be provided with case studies, extensive figures and photographs, exercises with scenarios to receive basic practices of death investigation.
