Description
Polymer Chemistry
4 Undergraduate Credits
An introduction to polymer chemistry; Lecture topics include discussions on the interrelations between molecular and gross physical properties; polymer structure; methods of polymerization; polymer development; and industrial applications for polymers. Laboratories provide hands-on experience in synthesis of of polymeric materials. The course includes Introduction to polymer chemistry through a study of step and chain polymerization and copolymerization as well as block and graft copolymers. The course focused on the properties of polymerization techninques in solution, emulsion, and microemulsion. The laboratory practice is designed to characterize and overview of the properties of commerical polymers.
