Victorian Literature I: 1830-1865

A study of British literature from the beginning of the major social reforms in England to the period of high Victorianism, including the influence of the industrial revolution, political liberalism, the rise of the middle class, and the mass reading public. Among the major writers studied are Tennyson, Browning, Carlyle, Dickens, and George Eliot. Prerequisite: (ENGL 101 or 103) AND (ENGL 102 or 104) AND ( 1 of WLIT 203, 204, 205, 206)
