Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry
4 Undergraduate Credits
A study of selective topics in organic chemistry and biochemistry including the chemistry of natural and synthetic carbon compounds, principles governing the chemistry of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids, and metabolism with emphasis on problem solving and practical applications to everyday life and biological processes. (3 hours lecturs and 3 hours laboratory per week). This course is required of all GNSC-Biology Emphasis majors and may not substitute for CHEM 307 or be used as an elective for the major. Prerequisite: CHEM 102
