Information Technology in Social Work

This course provides an overview of information systems. Students are introduced to foundation information about computer-related topics ranging from the major components of a computer, various types of information systems, and the use of electronic resources. These resources are presented as contemporary methods for enhancing client service delivery in social work agencies. Students will have the opportunity for direct application of computer resources. Prerequisite: MNSC 150

PLEASE NOTE: While this is an asynchronous ONLINE course that allows students to complete coursework at their own schedule by set deadlines, the course will include SEVEN synchronous sessions, where all students will be required to meet (virtually) as a class with the instructor. These synchronous sessions will be held on Mondays from 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm. Instructions for logging on to the synchronous sessions will be provided on Blackboard. Students should plan to log onto the first synchronous session promptly on Monday, September 13, 2021, from 3:00 PM-5:30 PM. Virtual attendance is mandatory for all synchronous session dates, which are as follows: September 13, 2021; September 27, 2021; October 11, 2021; October 25, 2021; November 8, 2021; December 6; and December 13, 2021. All synchronous sessions are required and virtual attendance is mandatory.
