This is a fifteen-week course meeting 5 hours per week. The first five weeks focus on algebraic concepts that will provide the necessary background needed for success in Elementary Statistics. The algebraic topics include numbers and the number line, operations on numbers, equations and inequalities, graphing points and lines, reading tables and graphs and approximating areas. Continuation in MATH 203C is conditional on the student passing the MATHEMATICS POST TEST at the appropriate level. The concepts in Basic Statistics are covered in the last 10 weeks of classes and covers basic concepts of probability theory and their applications in statistical analysis, including descriptive statistics, sample space, frequency distributions; measures of central tendency and variation, normal distribution, and sampling theory. TI83/84 Graphing calculator is required.
